Abstract

Meer Taqi Meer was given the titles of Shahen shah e Ghazal and Khudaiy Sukhan because his poetry transcends the confines of time and place and has a universality in it. His poetry reflects, different colors, spirit of many twists and moods. Unfortunately, many critics have portrayed him as a poet of pain and sorrow, not only portraying him as incomplete picture, but also narrowing his intellectual canvas, while he has different angles of thoughts. When we read his poetry, we find that in his poetry he sometimes looks sad, sometimes he seems to be full of happiness.  Somewhere in his poetry there is a mention of discomfortness in love, there is a little bit feeling of connection and touch. We see a reflection of innocence and wherever there is a concept of naughtiness in his poetry. Meer's personality is the source of many pertinent and contradictory references.
