Abstract

The home environment and society play pivotal roles in shaping children's education and character. However, curricular and extracurricular materials also significantly contribute to their development. Notably, extracurricular materials, engaged with voluntarily, have a profound impact on young minds and hearts. Current children's literature faces a paradox. On one hand, the "digital native" is captivated by fantasy and scientific experiments, oscillating between traditional folklore and modern discoveries. On the other hand, the quantity and quality of literature tailored for children are alarmingly inadequate. This study conducts a thematic analysis of selected children's magazines ("Hamdard Nounihal", "Saathi", "Adab e atfaal") to explore how their themes have evolved over time. Grounded in Albert Bandura's Social Learning Theory and expert opinions on children's literature, this research employs the documentary method to examine whether these magazines address children's training needs and foster essential skills. In line with Yuval Noah Harari's emphasis on equipping children with a balanced education, encompassing social, moral, scientific, and entertainment topics, this study investigates how children's magazines can empower young learners to navigate the complexities of the 21th century and cultivate the art of living.
