The Tradition of Urdu Naat Poetry in Sialkot

Abstract

The Urdu Naat poets of Sialkot have enriched the genre of naat through the strength of their language and expression, the elevation of their imagination, the depth of emotions and events, and the artistic portrayal of inner experiences. Observing their intellectual and artistic qualities evokes a sense of pleasant astonishment that, despite not being full-time poets, many poets of Sialkot have contributed immensely to the richness of naat poetry. The way they have molded their thoughts and ideas into poetic form stands as a remarkable achievement. In this regard, the present research is, in a sense, a tribute to their valuable work. Undoubtedly, “The Tradition of Urdu Naat Poetry in Sialkot” will prove to be a significant and beautiful addition to Urdu literature. In terms of style, themes, and expressive power, the naat poets of Sialkot deserve that their scholarly contributions beintroduced to the world, as students of literature are still largely unaware of their work and artistic excellence. Therefore, this need and academic significance has provided the justification for this research study.
