Abstract

Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi is one of the prominent fiction writers of Urdu literature. He is famous for his rural contextual short stories. He has also written fiction about migration and riots “Parmeshar Singh” is his representative short story written in this context. In this short story, Parmeshar Singh is presented as an exemplary character who has a secular mindset. However, society does not accept this thought. In this article a deconstructive study of the text has been made to understand the short story. It has been noted that there are gaps in the thematic and technical aspects
